A NEGLECTED TOOL

Perhaps you have a tool shed or at least a specific place for tools at your house. I remember my dad had a few tools: shovel, ax, and saw that were used occasionally. One of these tools was a pick. Many of you have probably used one. You could use it to break up dirt to make it a little easier to use a shovel. It also had a blade on it you could use to cut through tree roots. That pick might sit around for months and never be touched. When it was needed, it wasn’t ready. The blade had become rusty and dull. It had to be sharpened. It had been neglected, perhaps even sitting there when it could have been put to good use.

I believe we may have some neglected tools here with us. They are prepared and ready to share the gospel and information on other important spiritual matters. We walk by them every time we go in and out the front doors. They are the tracts and pamphlets located in the racks in the foyer. There are about 70 titles to choose from between the two racks and many others available in the office. Some titles cover the same topic, but that gives you a choice of which you could best use. They cover such topics as: salvation, forgiveness, prayer, worship, the church, God, Christ, family issues, moral issues, and many more. They can be used to introduce your family and friends to any of these topics. They can be used to begin a spiritual discussion with someone you are concerned about that is lost. They can also be used to encourage one who is among our lost sheep.

Are these tools being neglected? I only know they are not moving from the racks very quickly. Perhaps you have used all the titles available and we need some new ones. Perhaps there is a topic you would like that is not available. If that is the case, let Kathy or I know. We will try to take care of it. Also, as mentioned before, there are others in the office along with a list of every title we have. It’s possible you feel other tools are more effective and there is certainly nothing wrong with that. However, I would hate to think that they are ordered, paid for and put in place simply to collect dust.

Take a look at what is available and see if they can help you in reaching someone you care about.
